Gill and I thoroughly enjoyed our friendship with Win. We met through the Hull Literary and Philosophical Society and David and he both served on its Council. Win was always full of good ideas, thoughtful suggestions, often with a whiff of puckish humour. We much appreciated our discussions together on current affairs - climate change, Europe/Brexit, US and UK elections, the NHS(!), travel and so forth. They were always stimulating and balanced. We lived only a few hundred metres away in Cottingham, and it was a delight when, on a few occasions, we were able to meet up for a coffee or tea and enjoy his and Marina's excellent company. Win would have some latest news and stories with which to regale us. We shall miss his good company, knowledge and conversation.
